Why Onco Care Centre
Onco Care Centres have been set-up by Assam Cancer Care Foundation to provide adequate day-care facility in view of the demands of chemotherapy and radiation treatment. This is a collaboration model with Government medical colleges in the state.
So far, we have three Onco Care Centres and one radiotherapy unit.
1. Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy – Assam Medical College and Hospital, Dibrugarh
2. Chemotherapy - Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital, Barpeta
3. Chemotherapy - Diphu Medical College and Hospital, Diphu
How will Onco Care Centre help
With advanced infrastructure, the centres have all the infusion, drug preparation and bedside equipment along with automated laboratory, radiology equipment and facilities for emergency care in case of an adverse event. Staffed with senior medical and radiation oncologists and oncology trained nurses, the centres are strategically located thus, bringing quality cancer care closer home. The Radiation Therapy units are equipped with state-of-the-art Linear Accelerator and Brachytherapy units.
As of now, the unit at AMCH Dibrugarh is fully operational. The Linear Accelerator Radiation setup is a boon to the region and will serve innumerable patients who otherwise had to travel long distances from their base location. By mid-next year, Radiation facilities at Tezpur and Barpeta will also be fully functional under respective Medical Oncologists and Radiation Oncologists already placed at the locations.
