          “Probably not,” another replied. “Our society is still deeply patriarchal. A man’s pain is seen as important, while a woman’s is
          often brushed aside. Even when a woman is willing to fight, she’s shackled by her circumstances.”
          Kalpana’s story was not just about cancer; it was a reflection of the systemic inequalities that plague our society. Her plight
          was a reminder that health equity is not just about medical care—it’s about dismantling the social and economic barriers that
          prevent access to that care.

          In the days that followed, Kalpana’s story became a driving force for me. On World Cancer Day, under the theme “United
          by Unique,” I couldn’t help but reflect on how far we had to go to truly unite. Her story inspired me to advocate for gender-
          sensitive healthcare policies and empower women in rural areas.
