His family tried various remedies, from traditional medicine to spiritual healing, but
nothing seemed to work. They were desperate for a solution, but they didn’t know
where to go. His condition continued to deteriorate and he became increasingly
isolated, unable to interact with his family and friends.
It was during this time of struggle and uncertainty that Raju Nath’s family learned
about our cancer screening camp. A neighbour, who had attended one of our sessions,
informed them about the free cancer screenings and the support services ACCF team
provided. Desperate for help, Raju’s family contacted ACCF through the local ASHA
worker and CHO.
ASHA workers and CHO play a vital role in connecting villagers with healthcare
services. They are the bridge between the community and the healthcare system.
In this case, the ASHA worker and CHO were instrumental in linking Raju Nath’s
family with our ACCF team. They facilitated communication, provided guidance,
and helped us understand the family’s needs.
Raju’s journey with cancer began with a visit to a local hospital, where he underwent a
series of tests and consultations. The diagnosis was confirmed in Kokrajhar Hospital,
and Raju was advised to undergo treatment immediately. Despite the initial shock,
Raju was determined to fight the disease and regain his health.
As Raju began his treatment, he realized that his years of consuming smokeless
tobacco had taken a toll on his health. He had been addicted to tobacco for decades,
unaware of the risks it posed to his well-being. Raju’s story serves as a stark reminder
of the dangers of tobacco consumption and the importance of early detection and
treatment.
