him to get over his initial fear. The team explained
about the importance of diagnosis and led him
to Dibrugarh Cancer Centre for consultation.
Despite his fear, he consented to the treatment
and drew strength from the support of the team.
On the very next day, the COP Dhemaji team took him
for consultation in Dibrugarh Cancer Centre where
consultation was done with various tests including
Biopsy and CT Scans. Throughout this period, the
team kept him company and supported him. On
16th of December, the biopsy result confirmed his
worst fear, an ulceroproliferative growth on the
left lip and buccal mucosa which is a form of oral
cancer. Though the diagnosis was clear , it brought
uncertainty and anxiety for him and his family.
Financial issue was a major concern. The family
was not well off and was afraid of the cost of cancer
treatment, thinking it was way out of their league.
But the COP team understood their situation and
reassured them. They explained how the Ayushman
Bharat health Card could cover this treatment cost.
This was a ray of hope that removed the financial
fear that had clouded their decision making.
