LIGHT AMID DARKNESS
In the chemotherapy ward, Amrita met a young girl named Riya. Barely
ten years old, Riya had a spirit that belied her frail body. She spent her days
drawing pictures, gifting them to other patients. One day, she handed Amrita
a drawing of a sunrise.
“A new day will come,” Riya said, her voice soft but filled with conviction.
Those words stayed with Amrita. They became her mantra, guiding her
through the darkest days.
At home, Ramesh and Arjun became her pillars of strength. Ramesh took over
household chores, cooking her favorite meals and ensuring she rested. Arjun,
despite his young age, helped on the farm, managed his studies, and always
found time to sit with his mother, telling her stories to lift her spirits.
The villagers, too, rallied around her. Women from self-help groups brought
remedies to ease her nausea, and schoolchildren sent letters filled with
prayers and encouragement. Amrita realized she wasn’t alone in her fight.
TRIUMPH AND PURPOSE
Months later, after chemotherapy and surgery, the oncologist smiled and
said, “Your reports look good. The cancer is in remission.”
Tears streamed down Amrita’s face. She had faced death and emerged
victorious. The battle had scarred her body, but her spirit remained unbroken.
