When the pain persisted, he became concerned and noticed a soft, hollow-like structure in the back of the gingiva. Initially,
Jay Narayan consulted a local pharmacist, who recommended visiting a dentist. However, due to his labor-intensive job and
financial constraints, he chose to rely on pharmacy medication instead. Our ACCF dental surgeon and district coordinator
counseled Jay Narayan and his wife about the seriousness of his condition and the potential consequences if left untreated.
They both agreed to seek further evaluation at the Silchar Cancer Centre.
At the cancer center, Jay Narayan underwent biopsies, as well as MRI and CT scans. Ten days later, the doctors delivered
the devastating news: he had cancer affecting his jawbone and required immediate treatment. Jay Narayan was enrolled in
treatment covered by the Federal Bank Scheme. He underwent 21 cycles of chemotherapy, followed by radiation therapy.
Post-treatment, the doctors recommended a surgical opinion. Throughout his treatment journey, Jay Narayan was supported
by the COP team, including the dental surgeon and district coordinator, who provided regular follow-ups and guidance via
phone calls. Expressing his gratitude, Jay Narayan shared his thoughts with the dental surgeon: “Thank you is not enough.
From the doctors to the nurses, all the staff were brilliant – I just cannot fault the care I received.”
