The Battle of Life

ancer, a term which covers a vast array of diseases arising from
Cuncontrolled growth and division of abnormal cells within the
body. Cancer is formidable and often a life altering diagnosis which
brings with it fear, uncertainty and emotional turmoil. This disease
has been affecting humans through history and in present times it is
becoming increasingly prevalent in our society resulting in a focus
on the disease in both healthcare and research.
Cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide but is also a preventable
and treatable disease. Early detection and treatment can significantly
improve the chances of survival. Population especially residing in
remote areas lack education and awareness on this disease. Along
with it the taboo that has been circulating since ages in the society
makes it even more challenging to educate people about the profound
effects of the illness.
Working as a Dentist in a COP team under ACCF, where our main
focus is cancer screening for early detection and treatment plans, I
have come across many situations and challenges while trying to
provide the service. Amidst all the challenges, there are also some
