          Strength Amidst Struggles:

Rani Engtipi’s Fight Against Breast Cancer

ani Engtipi, a 45-year-old housewife from Rongplimplam, Diphu,
RKarbi Anglong, leads a modest life with her husband, a farmer, and
their five children—one son and four daughters. Their days revolved
around the rhythm of daily chores and family life.

In March 2024, Rani began experiencing persistent pain and noticed
lumps on the right side of her breast. The pain was intense, prompting
the family to turn to local remedies and rituals for comfort. Following
the guidance of their local priest, they performed a Karbi ritual known
as Se-Karkli, hoping for healing. However, despite their faith and efforts,
                                                            Rani’s condition did not improve.

Realizing the need for medical attention, Rani and her husband visited
the Gynaecology Outpatient Department (Gynae OPD) at Diphu Medical
College and Hospital (DMCH) on August 14, 2024. After a thorough
examination, the doctor suspected the lumps could be cancerous and
referred her to the Health Kiosk for further evaluation.

                                                            THE DIAGNOSIS
At the Health Kiosk, Rani revealed she had been enduring the pain for
